Asia Miles / Cathay Waitlist
 
Hi - anyone have any experience trying to book an award ticket in business using Asia Miles via their waitlist? Does the waitlist ever clear?

One recent problem I realise is when the award becomes available, the system itself couldn't be updated and I need to call and ask and rebook it....anyone experienced this or sth similar?

I received an email to contact MPC, I can also see on my account to contact MPC and I had both seats(original & upgrade seat) and even able to select seat. As I was waiting for my return upgrade also on waiting, i was sitting on it. The difference of 30K for one way upgrade Vs 40K for round trip upgrade. MPC called 2 days after the deadline to confirm if I still want the one way upgrade.

Sounds like it is not a great system re: logistics. But it also sounds like you got off the waitlist - which is encouraging.

I redeemed a HKG/YVR round trip upgrade from PEY to J and was only confirmed with YVR-HKG, HKG-YVR was on waiting list. The MPC operator suggested me to break the redemption into 2 single trips: HKG-YVR and YVR-HKG which cost 20000 miles per trip. He said if they could confirm HKG HKG-YVR at a later stage, I could call up and they would adjust the redemption cost from 40000 miles to 30000 miles (round trip redemption). Eventually I got through the wait list and called up MPC, they adjusted the two single redemptions to one round trip with 10000 refunded. ^

been better recently. all 5 of my recent bookings clear properly. i was complaining exactly what you experienced earlier this year.
