First Class Upgrade to Vlogger?

Casey Neistat mentions in the video that Cathay Pacific upgraded him to First Class on the YVR to JFK flight. CX looking for a little social media publicity?

Is it not obvious? The shirt, the hat backwards, the sunglasses indoors?

I agree with LondonElite. Highly doubt they were looking for social media publicity (at least not with this guy).

Mr. Neistat is one of those disgruntled AA flyers. He even referred to AA as the "ex-girlfriend." LOL

He did a good *job* promoting CX, and making it look like its F-class is the best.:p

Awful. The definition of narcissism and arrogance.

If this person or someone like him was making videos like this and disturbing me I would definitely complain.

A few days ago I was sat in the bar on the QR A380 and some guy comes in with a big zoom lens and starts taking photos of the passengers. He didn't take any of me but I would have strongly objected. Some people only think of themselves and not about the effect on others.

Don't we suppose to accept better or worse to significant others? :p

I don't think CX was looking for free publicity.

He probably was upgraded as an OWE

If CX was looking for publicity, why didn't they upgrade him on the outbound leg? Considering how empty J was on the outbound journey, it's safe to assume that the F load would be similar.

Yea that's my bet.

From looking at Casey's videos, here is my understanding.

He and his companion flew on a Friday night on CX 889 in J JFK-YVR to spend Saturday in YVR (to meet his helicopter pilot friend) while returning Saturday night (on CX 888 in J?).

In one of his videos, he mentioned that they "deliberately" missed the return flight to JFK on Saturday and decided to spend another day (to have more adventure in his friend's helicopter? or because CX F awards opened up for Sunday? we will never know).

Perhaps they were on AA awards and when they called AA to make the change, "F" awards on CX 888 happened to be available (while J wasn't)?

Casey probably doesn't want to further elaborate as to why he got into F so he just said that they were "upgraded". Most youtube viewers will probably never understand (or even need to understand) the intricacies of AA awards. He's just gearing his videos in an understandable format to his viewers.

Casey is known to use AA awards (last time he redeemed BA F to go to Cape Town with his wife and baby). Also, he seems to buy Y on AA flights and upgrades to J due to his EXP status. He flies often between JFK and SFO.

Didn't he say somewhere that they were on revenue tickets paid for by a producer as they were working on a film in Vancouver? Correct me if I'm wrong as I'm not completely sure

Doesn't he fly a lot on Delta One and JetBlue Mint now after losing ConciergeKey?

Correct, he now flies Delta. He has been flying Air France and Delta on his European trips.

But then he seems to still have a lot of AA redeemable miles.
