Dining Collaboration - Hyatt

http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_H...aboration.html

Does this mean the quality of the food across all classes will improve?

I had a less than stellar experience when they had their collaboration with the Mandarin Oriental. Maybe I was just unlucky...?

Hopefully

They can't even make the food look appetizing in the press photos, the pork and beef dishes look as if they are drenched in oil and grease. Still, hopefully this will work out for the better.

Chinese dishes only?

For those hoping that Cafe de Coral would cater CX, the J and Y meals look pretty similar to Cafe de Coral!

How I read the press release is that different Hyatt hotels will be making the dishes at different periods - so at some stage in the future Milanese-style dishes will be on the menu (for example)

I had the Mandarin Oriental twice in F and it was awful ... Won't have high hopes for this Hyatt collaboration. The press pics don't look good either.

If I had to choose a restaurant for collaboration, perhaps Tsui Wah? Curry, baked pork chop rice, HK style ice tea with milk?

Nothing like a romantic French meal on CX! :p :p

But seriously, I would take a cafe de coral char siew rice any day over some of the awful food CX serves on board. Having said that, it's been many years since I last stepped into a cafe de coral, so maybe their standards have also slipped?

Definitely not Qantas International?

My friend just flew out of HKG yesterday with the Hyatt dish offered on his YVR flight in J; it was stir-fry scallops and prawns with basil and black bean sauce. He said nothing has changed lol i.e. quality and taste is still as meh as it was! And just by the sound of it, you don't really need a Hyatt collaboration to come up with that dish.

Personally I had the MO F meals 3x and honestly none were that good. I had to switch back to the regular main dish on one occasion because the MO main dish tasted so bad.

Disappointed to see this. Interestingly, Aaron Claxton's name has reappeared publicly with attribution for this nonsense in that public release. I recall his name being removed from the menu lately, I presumed he got fired. I guess not.

CX food is an embarrassment. What makes it worse is these silly marketing campaigns where CX spends resources patting themselves on the back.....for what is, in my experience, the most atrocious "premium" airline food in the sky. I wonder if CX mgmt actually believes their marketing drivel about their own food. These guys must know we all visit the same restaurants, clubs and whatnot in Hong Kong...what I'm served on CX wouldn't pass for quality food (or even an attempt at quality) in hardly any Chinese restaurants in town. The only conclusion I can come to is they're either delusional or getting special services when they fly CX J / F that we're not. I've had a number of flights on AA the last few months and AA is consistently kicking CX's backside in the food department.

Doubtful....unfortunately. They're just going through the motions here. These marketing partnerships are all the rage in the airline industry these days. Meaningless from our perspective....and they just spend some more marketing budget that ultimately comes out of margins somewhere, probably to the detriment of the food.

Agreed, CX food is just bad.

I never complained about the food on CX, but as a QF OWE, I come from a very very low base...

Not only is Mr Claxton back in the picture, he brought back his famous beef cheeks!

The beef looks like a J class dish to me - the crockery is different to the tin foil of the meat patties dish.
