Transit at CTS / back to back

What's transit like at CTS (Sapporo New Chitose, Japan)?

I am wondering if it is possible to do a 'back to back' at CTS. Specifically, to arrive on CX580 at 15:25 and immediately return on CX581, same aircraft, at 16:35.

(The reason for asking this question is the potentially attractive combination of ex-Japan prices and HKG-CTS being just beyond the magic 2,000 mile threshold for BA status earning).

I noted the magical 2000 mile mark too. Pls update us if you attempt this.

I am not sure if the Airport allows for transit (ie. if they have a proper transit area); if not, it will be probably impossible to if you have clear immigration.

I believe HKG has to print your new starting ticket's boarding pass (that is originating in CTS), perhaps the other CX regulars can chime in to see how possible is that.

If not, it may be a challenge to get your CX boarding pass printed in the transit zone (especially you will be in a rush, and they will be very bemused), if they have one in the first place.

Good news if you can pull it off, and I wish you good luck!

I don't see why this would be a problem if you have done an online checkin and have your return boarding pass. I haven't done it at CTS, but I have done it at NRT and KIX.

In my personal experience, staff at HKG will hard time you if you ask for a return boarding pass on a turnaround. They said they can't access the system at outports if the destination is HKG itself. Or maybe mine was just too faraway, might be easier for places like TPE I don't know. Best is if you can get a mobile boarding pass. If you wanna do ex-Japan then I guess you will be on 160 stock so that won't be a problem.

The airport has a transit gate (see "Entry" https://www.jal.co.jp/en/inter/airpo...pk/spk_00.html )

And OLCI, well, at least nominally http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...ained-cts.html. You're flying two tickets right?

As a data point, I did a straight turn around at CGK last week (LHR-HKG-CGK-HKG) and I was able to get my board passes at LHR without any problems... so I can't see why getting your boarding passes in HKG would pose any difficulties.

Apologies for digging up an old thread, but was wondering if you went through with trying the back to back, and/or whether there were any issues?
