Looking forward to first CX experience

Please bear with me as I am new to this site. I have searched a bunch, but still have some questions.

I am flying CX (BOS-HKG) next week for the 1st time. I then fly CX (HKG-NRT) a week later, JL (NRT-PEK) 5 days later and then CX (PEK-HKG-BOS) as my return and all in Business. This is my 1st true International flight as well and looking forward to seeing the difference between domestic and international first hand.

I am currently unable to sign up for AsiaMiles and MPC due to ongoing site issues, but wondering if I really need both. The big thing I want to be able to do is accrue miles within OneWorld to hopefully use these miles at a later date. I am less concerned about Status as I won't be flying CX again this year. Plus, I have read about the mileage reset at each level so although I should get a high status after this trip is sounds like I will be bottom tier regardless.

So AsiaMiles is all I really need to get signed up for right? Can this be done at the airport prior to takeoff?

I am bringing a comfortable change of clothes for the flight, but if there were one or two other things I should do \ bring what would they be?

Oh, I am already preparing for a bad lounge experience at Logan before taking off.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Do you plan on accruing miles with MPC/AM specifically for CX redemption in the future? If not you might want to take a look at signing up for AAdvantage instead. Much easier tier requirements, no tier resets after each qualification, and you should qualify for OW Ruby after this trip if you use AA FFP. It doesn't look like you'll qualify for MPC SL with the 25% bonus.

If you stick to MPC/AM, just sign up before your trip and have the agent add your AM FF number on at check-in, or save your BP to have them added on after.

I guess I need to read more about OW. Can I just apply my AAdvantage # up front and accrue AA miles on CX flights? And then, if wanted, use those miles within OW to fly BA or another partner? The only airline my wife and I have been flying for years is Delta and I am only familiar with accruing DL miles to later use on a DL flight. I figured I was going to have to get AM miles through CX to use within OW.

Thank you

Seeing that you're in revenue J, yes you can accrue miles to AA. Or if you want to combine you + your wife's points, you might want to look into BA. If you want to stay with Asia Miles, you can even sign up at the airport, on board, afterwards, etc and submit a claim within X days after your flight. (I believe it's 180?)
