ABT reports:

Business class seat supplier Zodiac is taking most of the heat for the delay, with claims the company has fallen behind the schedule set by Airbus and Cathay Pacific.

However, Cathay Pacific is also believed to have been making some late changes to the seat design, which is based on a refresh to the airline's current international business class.

I already booked my LGW flight for end of Sept, hoping to fly on this beauty. Do you think the delay would cause any impact to the LGW route in terms of equipment being used?

I expect not, Sept was already well enough away from the Feb-then-March timeframe, I'm thinking April/May now so there is still ample time for the regional famil runs before the real long-haul routes commence.

Let's just hope there are no more delays.

I actually think it might. I started another thread based on an SCMP article a few days ago. It was an incoherent article but in hindsight I think they got tipped off to this a bit earlier. They *possibly* mentioned a LGW delay, although the writing was a bit convoluted.

Airbus has been leaking it our for months that the A350 deliveries are delayed, and not so subtly pointing the blame at Zodiac.

yes, I saw your thread and have read the article. While trying not to read between the lines, my perception is that the LGW route was originally planned for pre-Sept launch if not due to whatever reasons it claims.

I believe CX announced the route in Dec, which I believe they'd have learned of any possible delays by that time. If they were not confident in introducing the A350 to fly the route, they'd have probably not mentioned it in the announcement.

Well, just my 2 cents, or my brain is tricking me coz I just don't want the delay to happen!

My feeling is that while LGW was the first announced CX A350 route (in terms of formally announced with start date and schedule) it didn't have to be the first (long-haul) A350 route per se – there was scope for other ports to be announced which would kick off before the KLG-LGW service. We shall see how that plays out over the coming months.

I heard Auckland should be the first candidate. But now with the delay possibly until the end of June, it's quite difficult to speculate which route would be the first.

CX has advised that Auckland will be second half of the year (http://www.ausbt.com.au/cathay-pacif...d-half-of-year), but whether that beats LGW's September kick-off remains to be seen.

Shame, I have AKL flights booked in March and April and was quite enjoying the idea of an equipment swap.
