Flight change

I am flying in from BKK to HKG and my flight from HKG to JFK was changed to an earlier flight. (only 50 minutes apart) Will I be able to get to my departure gate in time to make my flight? The earlier flight from BKK was full. My original flight to JFK was cancelled. All flights are on Cathay

It would help greatly if you provide your flight number. CX>>>CX MCT in HKG is 50 minutes IIRC. I have done 35 min connections with luggage not making it.

If timing is tight, you have to hope for no late arrival or weather.

It is CX 750 to CX 840 on Feb. 1, 2016. CX750 arrives at 15:35 and CX840 leaves at 16:25. Are the gates near each other? Is 50 minutes enough time to make the flight?

Any flight could use any gate. There is no way to know which gates are being used for a set flight until shortly before each flight. Some flights "usually" use the same gates (eg, QF flights tend to use gates near the QF lounge), but there is nothing to guarantee it.

50 minutes is often enough time to connect between flights at HKG, provided there are no delays.

50mins gate to etd is well enough even at the extreme ends of the airport.
Prob drops down to 30 mins is still ok if arrivals on cxka and they know of your connecting flight.

But actual gate arrival is essential :p

More than enough time! If your inbound is delayed even by say 25-30 minutes, you will be met at the entrance to the terminal from the jet bridge. A member of CX staff will then escort your through (priority) security and to the gate for your departure.
