Seating Question
Hi All,
Hopefully this is the right forum to ask. Travelling party of 7 (4 adults 3 children) is booked on CX136 and CX 846 PER - JFK. Our fares are in economy (N) and we are unable to select seats. Will CX ensure that the minors in the party are seated with the adults and will they keep the group togther or could we be scattered throughout the Y cabin? Thanks in advance |
Is there any MPC SL or OW Ruby in your group? He/she can request seats for the group (I don't know for how many people) traveling with him/her.
CX may not be able to ensure kids are traveling with adults, but they will try to do that when your group check in. It will be nice if you can do OLCI at T-48 hours to try the best to get seated together. |
No one has any status. OLCI will be done asap prior to departure. The check in at Perth going to be 14 hours prior to departure in HK so hopefully they can seat us together for the longer segment.

Fyi, there is a chance you can't pull it off on OLCI. Ie, you look online and its mainly singles left. Thats always possible OLCI. But just fyi the airport will have seats blocked off which can be released at ground staff manager discretion. Your situation would probably fall into that basket. My recommendation is be friendly and persistent and at least you should be able to get pairs or three seated together. They should be understanding. |
worst case is to nicely ask other PAX once boarded to move around. I'd think most would be willing if the seats were the same (ie aisle for aisle)

Would anyone be able to check the loading of the above flights for the 18th Septmber. I'm assuming both flights will be very full

Am i right in thinking that 136 has 4 economy seats and 846 has none?

For CX846, there is no economy seat left. Having said that, there are many who do not have seat assignments and some cannot even do OLCI - either no status or members of tour groups; some Y passengers may do mileage upgrades. So there may still be a chance for some or all of you to sit together. |

You could always try using a OW alliance member to see if you can change or select your seats with them ahead of time. I've always used either Royal Jordanian or Qantas for this. Get your record locator number, then go to the website for RJ or QF, select manage my booking, then go down to seat selection and see if you're able to choose. The only time this didn't work for me was on a C trip I booked on LAN using Avios. For award tickets in J/F it has always worked for me though, including on CX (though I realize this isn't a premium cabin situation, I think it still should work).

Thanks in advance It is also wise for the purposes of emergency evacuations that families are seated together... you don't want mom and dad going 'against the flow' looking for their children (rather than immediately exiting the aircraft). If the minors fit into this category, I'd call CX reservations. They may not be able to help you on the spot, but you can ask them to send a note to their seating department in Hong Kong to get this sorted in advance. |
