Making a 2-sector award booking in mixed class

Hi all,

Would like to share my experience making an award booking from MXP-HKG in F & then HKG-SIN in J (connection within 24 hrs)

I am looking at 2 tickets which I will redeem 1 using 70k AA miles and 1 using 105k Asia miles.

The one using AA miles ticketed without any issues, while for the one using Asia Miles, I was told by the phone agent that the sector HKG-SIN was not available, even though a search for award availability online for the individual sector will show many seats available.

I am currently waitlisted for the HKG-SIN sector using AM, and can only confirm my entire MXP-HKG-SIN ticket if it clears. I understand that award availability for connection flights & standalone flights may differ sometimes, but would anyone have any experience if these sort of waitlist will actually clear? Just a little surprised that AA seems to ticket a CX award flight easier than using Asia Miles?

I HUCA a few times but to no avail so far. Thanks all.

Cheers and regards,

can you ticket it as a stopover instead (with the same <24 hr "stopover")

Thanks for your suggestion, I will give the agents another call on this!

Why are you using Asia miles at all? If flying MXP-HKG-SIN with less than 24 hrs in HKG it is a layover and can be booked as one ticket from AA for the same number of miles as just going to HKG. Both are Asia zone 2. Add the HKG-SIN sector to your AA award assuming you haven't ticketed it yet.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 7_0_2 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/537.51.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Mobile/11A501 Safari/9537.53)

My understanding is that op is booking 1 mxp-sin w aa miles n 1 w asiamiles

I have ticketed 1 pax for MXP-HKG-SIN on AA miles. Unfortunately I do not have enough AA miles for another pax and there is also no more F seat to redeem using AA miles, which is why I can only redeem using Asia miles for the 2nd pax, though CX doesn't allow me to redeem MXP-HKG-SIN in one booking (HKG-SIN sector not available for a connection), for some reason.
