KVS showing all 0s - what is the implication

Hello,

Just feel curious - if the KVS tool is showing all classes all cabins 0, does it imply the flight is fully booked or over-booked? Logically, there is no chance for opup right (as all classes are full)?

Thanks for your sharing!

it is also possible a sign of cancellation

Agree with that last comment -- it's much more likely that it signals an ad-hoc decision not to operate that flight on that day because demand is soft. CX does that frequently in slow seasons (like now).

It can also just mean an oversell but you cannot tell what cabin. If Y/PEY is very oversold they may stop selling J as they know they will need to opup.

Many of the YVR>HKG flights are all zeros this week or have been changing from all zeros to J1 and then all zeros. It's a busy week with CNY returns.

Don't be too excited, I have been on plenty of "all 0s" flights, expecting an op-up, and there are actually empty seats in Y.

Like another poster said, they may be stop selling across the board because they have no where to op-up people to, and the safe thing is to not sell seats rather than oversold and no where to put them, and then you have to give compensation, arguments, get them on another flight, etc. etc.

Thanks for your sharing!

It would also help us if you tell us what route, when and what class you're looking to book... or have booked.

Thanks for all your sharings!

I am looking at some return routes back to Hong Kong, such as Tokyo (CX 549), Singapore (CX 736), and Bangkok (CX 614) on this coming Sunday (Mar 1) - they are all pretty full with all classes as 0!

Is it coincidental?

This is really late looking for a return to HKG around LNY. My suggestion is to be flexible and check availability on any flights (not just the ones you mentioned), any airlines, any nearby airport (e.g., MFM), and any date (3 March or later).

I think this is related to the lack of 777 pilot issue.

Its the end of CNY holidays. Most people take 2 weeks off and this weekend happens to be that weekend - almost every single flight to HK from anywhere - and that includes through till mid week eg 2,3,4 March are showing full in most classes on every flight, on almost any airline.

I was due to go to HK on the 3rd and couldn;t get a flight myself. So am coming in on the 5th and flying MH instead from KUL.

This is heavy travel season plus industrial action by pilots.
Hence flights tend to be overbooked and/or cancelled.
Because most holiday flyers fly Y, opup can be more frequent than usual on a zeroed flight.

Useful info! Right now I don't see any F availability seven or even one day out... So once we get to mid March (CNY travel over), last minute CX F availability should be good again?

Mid-March is usually OK, but for last minute availability, I expect everything is likely (or almost) 0ed out again around 21 March to 12 April. There may be F and A availability but perhaps not for Z. That depends on where and the direction you are flying. Things are quite unpredictable during Rugby Sevens late March and the long weekend in early April.
