CX Lounge guests
Hi all, sorry I'm not sure if this has been covered anywhere but I don't have much time to look for the answer by searching previous posts. So please forgive me.
Do lounge guests have to fly on the same flight on CX/KA as the MPO member? Thanks. |

In theory, your guest needs to be flying on a OW flight. But in practice, you only need your lounge invitation to bring your guest in

That is only if you are relying on oneworld access rules (ie using your status with another oneworld carrier). If you are using MPC status while travelling on a CX/KA flight, there is no such restriction
1. Available only to members and guests departing on flights marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific, Dragonair and/or oneworld carrier flights. |

That is also what I remembered, but it stated differently on MPC web page: http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_H...-benefits.html. It seems that guest for a GO member must also travel on OW flights:
1. Available only to members and guests departing on flights marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific, Dragonair and/or oneworld carrier flights. |

Last time (late Aug this year) when I went to the Wing-J front door staff did check the boarding pass of my guest to ensure he was also flying OW flight
1. Guests can be travelling on any airline, as long as they are accompanied by a member and access the lounge in accordance with the member’s entitlement. 2. If the member is travelling on a non-Cathay Pacific/non-Dragonair/non-oneworld carrier flight, guest access is restricted to Cathay Pacific Business Class lounges and Dragonair lounges. |

yea, wow I didn't notice. This is also applicable to DMs bringing guests into the F lounge! Maybe it's an attempt to start addressing the lounge crowding problems?

I did not notice until I read it. It is for GO. DM is not affected.

I'm pretty sure this has been around for at least a year if not longer.
I've definitely taken a guest in to the F lounge recently who was not flying on CX/KA. He was on United. I'm DM. According to these updated rules - which I was totally clueless on, I thought I could bring anyone in (I've brought in an airport staff before) - he shouldn't have been allowed in. In reality they just waved him through when I gave the lounge card. |
I know I definitely recall reading the rule more than a year ago when looking at MPC benefits table.
