Moved from AA to UA -- Points Claim?
Hi all,
I recently had a paid J ticket EWR-ORD-PEK, entirely on AA. On the day of travel, the EWR-ORD flight suddenly got cancelled and I was put on a UA flight at basically the same time (so was caused no inconvenience). The ORD-PEK flight was fine. My question, though, is how I claim the miles? Can I ask CX to credit the equivalent miles, or do I credit those miles to my A3 *A account? Any advice/pointers greatly appreciated as always! |
You can try to cite http://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/site/...DropDownList#6, which states, "If a member's air travel is disrupted due to reasons beyond the control of CPA or an airline partner (for example, extreme weather conditions/acts of God) and the member is forced to change carrier, mileage credits on the disrupted segments of the purchased ticket will only be credited to the original itinerary. In such circumstances the member will need to mail or fax the original passenger receipt and boarding pass to AML." You can double-dip and get miles from UA partner (such as A3) also.

Interesting about the double dipping.

+1 on the double dipping. I imagine the fare class is probably pretty high on the UA tickets (perhaps full J) and I don't really think its against the rules(or maybe they'll never know)

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies! I just sent in the missing miles request to MPC outlining just that argument. Will update this thread with how it goes. Cheers! |
Hey everyone,
I submitted a request to MPC based on the above, attached the UA boarding pass and other things that the AA check-in agent at EWR gave me, as well as the original AA E-Ticket. CX MPC replied on September 26, agreeing to credit my MPC account with the equivalent miles for the cancelled flight. Thanks again for all the help! |
