Oneworld Emerald travelling CX Quesitons
Hi,
I have a couple of flights with my wife coming up on CX PER-HKG return in Premium Economy both ways and have a couple of questions relating to the Hong Kong end: 1) What would be my baggage allowance in pieces or kg's? 2) Will I be able to use the First check in area at HKG? 3) What is the best lounge in HKG to use? Thanks in advance for assistance. |
Hi there - welcome to the CX forum.
Regarding your lounge questions, you may want to have a look at the Wiki at the top of this lounge FAQ thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...unge-faqs.html Your baggage allowance will be in KG as you're not travelling to the americas. You will get the OneWorld Emerald benefit additional baggage allowance of 20kg on top of the standard allowance of 25kg. Yes you can use the First check-in counters at HKG. |
I am assuming your Emerald status is with another oneworld airline
1) No restriction on pieces. 25kg each plus 20kg for the emerald member 2) Yes 3) That depends on what you are looking for. The new QF lounge gets good reviews. For the CX lounges, read the Wiki at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...unge-faqs.html |
Best new experience is the Qantas lounge. It may be old hat to you, but for us CX travellers, its a breadth of fresh air from the usual CX lounges. I was particularly impressed with the offerings of gluten-free items clearly labelled as such at the QF lounge. ^

Thanks all
I am keen to visit the Qantas lounge, but it will not be this trip and will have to wait until I head to the mainland in October, as CX171 leaves prior to the lounge opening.
I have used the Pier, Wing, Cabin and Bridge in the past, but this will be my first trip not travelling with people unable to access the F lounge, so the Wing it is! |
I don't want to start another OWE thread so I'm just going to jump on this one. Flying AA EWR - DFW - HKG and then connecting to CX HKG - SIN (booked separately) the same day.
A couple of questions: 1) Is a 2 hour layover at HKG sufficient for making the connection (we'll have plenty of time for the Wing before the return HKG - DFW - especially since the upgrade is looking questionable - so that's not the primary concern here) 2) I assume despite separate PNRs for EWR - DFW - HKG and HKG - SIN (the two tickets were booked separately as an EWR - HKG return and HKG - SIN return) that I can interline our bags all the way to SIN (especially with an AA ---> CX connection) eliminating the need to collect at HKG 3) I am OWE but my sister, who I'm traveling with, is not. Does my OWE extend to her for booking exit row seats (or other "priority" seats) on CX? If so do I just need to call? 4) Last but not least - what would be the best two seats on an A333 in Y (as of know it's showing regional one way and long-haul config for the return but I know swaps do occur frequently on this route)? Thanks all - this will be my first CX experience (and hopefully my only one in Y - next time I'll be on miles earned from this trip in F instead :D) |

But certainly worth trying to see what they will do if you call. through check of bags should be no problem. present both tickets at your first check-in. best seat for 2? exit rows obviously, but failing that, the configuration in 2-4-2, so really any double seat is just fine. You can refine your preference further to be front/rear/close to WC or whatever as your needs dictate. |

Two hours is plenty of time for your connection, you should have around an hour of clear 'free time' to enjoy the lounge even! (although depending on where your next flight leaves from, you may prefer to choose a business class lounge if the First class one is miles away).

Good suggestion on the business class lounge as well - I'm flying in on the AA flight so I'll take a look when things get closer to see where the connecting flight will be relative to the AA flight. Our upgrades for the return (HKG - DFW) are looking dicey so that's when I'll really need the CX FC lounge so I can prepare adequately for 16 hours in MCE |

Although https://www.aa.com/i18n/agency/Booki...tkt_policy.jsp does not provide you with direct answer, but you can assume that it is covered. 3. Technically, no, but if you get an inexperienced or nice agent you might be able to get it. It is not restricted by the system AFAIK. 4. Please consult with SeatGuru or SeatExpert. |
