Moving Seats
 

Hi

I have 2 revenue tickets booked in R class (PE) from HKG-LHR-HKG for my parents, I was planning to upgrade these seats.

I am planning to issue 3 mileage tickets for myself and 2 kids for the same route but the only seats available are in business class. Also I plan to buy one ticket in PE.

I don't want to sit in business class with the kids as it will be too difficult to manage them sitting far away from me.

Is it possible for me to book this, but then on the plane switch my parents to Business Class with the one older kid and keep myself with the two younger kids in Premium Economy?

Any suggestions as to what to do?

That will be fine. Just don't switch back and forth. If the FAs ask, tell them you want to honor your parents with the Business seats.

Colleagues of mine have done similar.

They told the FAs in advance who had absolutely no issues with it.

I agree with the other posters. Did Savage's suggestion is right on the money - Asian culture venerates the older generations, so if you say you wish to honour your parents with the better seats that will be completely understood (and you will earn some respect yourself!)

You could try to do this at check-in so your parents can enjoy the lounge as well (although of course you could just give them your lounge invitations instead). But then if you tell the crew on board, they might in return honour your noble sacrifice with some better treatment (NOT guaranteed!)

Either way, kudos to you for what you are doing for your parents :-)
