time of day when award seats are released
 

Hi - I was wondering whether CX release their awards at a certain time of day, especially when looking for the awards they release a few weeks before travel.

A much discussed topic on FT, though I'm not sure how one might search for it. If you spend a day checking every hour, it will become apparent when the award availability changes, then you'll know and not have to do it again for the particular trip you're planning. (At least that's what I do.)

I do think that this varies.

I've had "F" success on CX 888 / 889 YVR-JFK-YVR at 9 PM Pacific Standard Time (Vancouver / Los Angeles Time Zone).

Of course, you will have to apply the same effort refreshing 8-16 times a day on the route you are interested on for the same success.

I would say you won't have much success checking 8-16 times a day 2 months before your flight. Beginning 2 weeks before departure, CX is likely to release F seats. However, its often not until about 5 days prior that they start 'dumping' seats into the inventory

Curiously, I have had the most success at around that time (11pm Central) for ORD-HKG. But most likely this is coincidence.
