One Segment of Redemption Waitlisted
I've just booked an award flight from LHR -> HKG -> LAX, with the LHR -> HKG segment confirmed and the HKG -> LAX segment wait listed. Since this was treated as one ticket (albeit with a week-long stopover), it cost fewer miles than booking two separate one-ways.
What happens if the HKG -> LAX segment doesn't confirm? Will the LHR -> HKG segment be cancelled, or will I be charged at the LHR -> HKG one way rate, or will I be charged for the whole thing with the option of doing HKG -> LAX on another date? |
U'll hv to pick, before ticketing deadline, if you want to ticket as 1segments, or 2. Or else all will be cancelled.

You also have an option to pick a dummy date n pay for the whole thing n waitlist for future use if it doesnt open up, within a year

Please note that there is a charge when you change the date of the 2nd segment back to the date you desire. Furthermore, if the waitlist does not clear, you may have a problem in that once the 1st segment is flown, there can be no refund and no changes to routing.

Just to be clear--are even date/time changes not allowed once the 1st segment is flown? Or just destination changes?
