How long does it take to ticket upgrades using AM?
I was granted two J-->F upgrades on our upcoming HKG-JFK flights for 60,000 Asia Miles each. I received a new itinerary that shows both J and F entries for this segment but the ticketing process remains queued.
Under Manage booking, CP website says "Our records indicate that you have not issued a ticket for this booking. Please contact Asia Miles Service Hotline to issue the ticket before 21:00, 11 Feb (MLE time). Otherwise your booking will be invalid and will automatically be cancelled without further notice." for each reservation. Obviously Feb 11 has come and gone. Agents tell me the the tickets will be issued "shortly." One other factor is that I had to top up my account for the redemption. If I transfer the 4000 Amex points over to AM before the processing of the tickets/top-up, can I avoid paying for these extra miles? Any thoughts/experience would be appreciated. Thanks! |
Normally after you instruct the agent to go ahead with ticketing the upgrade the message for the ticketing deadline goes away even though it remains un ticketed. But with their changes in systems I don't know if this is consistent anymore.
How far away is your flight? If it is a while later, they won't priority ticket it as there are immediate departures requiring ticketing. But in my experience for a non urgent ticketing of an award, it usually will be done within 2 weeks. |
It's fine
Short nitpicking feature of am redemptions If your redemption is waitlist, your deadline is stated in mmb as 17:00 hkt If the redemption is sent for ticketing, your deadline is stated as 00:00 hkt This translates to 14:00 and 21:00 respectively So your upgrade definitely has been sent over to ticketing to process - you won't lose the seat However I'd still follow it up after a couple of weeks cos they may do stupid things like take your credit card info wrong. Or in the case of upgrade, your revenue booking details perhaps? |
Thanks for the replies. Spoke to another agent yesterday before I saw these. Having never even flown CX, I just didn't want to lose the upgrades since I transferred Amex & SPG points over. She said the flight isn't until may so there is no rush to issue the ticket but ultimately she re-sent to the ticketing group with an "ASAP request." Both tickets were issued within hours so I am all set now.
