Lounge access to non qualified members

I don't know why you guys would populate the CX lounge with non members thereby driving up costs and eventually resulting in either higher thresholds for qualifying and/or reduced quality of service. It's not being selfish but not rorting the system and ultimately depriving yourselves. Am I wrong ?

You joined FlyerTalk just to post that?!
I don't think everyone gets guested in, really. Most don't.

+1
I seriously doubt that the hit rate for requests is too high- especially for those who're 'new' to the forum.
I've offered a few times, and the rare occasions that someone has taken me up on an offer, have made for a good FTer meet-up.

I've been guested in twice in HKG (CX), once in SFO (Centurion), didn't succeed in DXB (EK)... and I think that's about it?! I also post offering to guest people in these days, but only succeeded maybe once in ORD (UA), almost succeeded once in SFO (SQ) but we only managed to get in touch like 5 mins before the lounge closed...

For some of us guesting is about sharing a nice experience with someone else. It's not a problem being a nice guy even on FT

I didn't join flyertalk just to comment on that . I've been following flyertslk for a long time and find the other stuff like lounge access and seating handy . I've been a cx gold for 5 years, and can't understand why that person above who had a go at me so grouchy . It's a legitimate question /comment on my part as I keep reading abt CX tightening their rewards program and won't be surprised if they also increase the number of points for lounge pass redemption . Every little thing makes it harder for the others who don't abuse the system .

I don't see how guesting in an (e-) acquaintance into a lounge, within entitlement, is abusing the system. Now if someone were to move around lounges in HKG, maxing the quota at each (not sure if that's even possible)- then sure..but I've not come across a single instance of that on FT...

I'll comment on this because I like this thread. Based on CX/KA's passenger count, the one offer on our tiny board for the NRT lounge today could mean 0.001% of PAX might have gotten in without being eligible. Now that's hardly "populating" anything. Can't count how many times I didn't even go to a lounge at all, despite being eligible. Beside, almost always, these meetups are a nice way to get in touch with a fellow FT'er, something you just might not be interested in. Oftentimes both will be eligible, and just meet for a drink. So while I can see where you're coming from: yes, I believe you are wrong :)
