Upgrades with booking involving codeshare sector
 
On a full fare itinerary involving a connection with another Oneworld carrier, can you do a points upgrade with your CX flight only and not touch the codeshare sector at all?

Not exactly same as your case,
but, I upgraded CX segments in several DONEX tickets.
Even a round trip award (e.g. less required miles) was possible if upgraded portion can be regarded as a round trip.

Yes, I've done that before. You can also upgrade individual CX segments and leave other CX segments untouched (but then you don't get the discounted round trip mile cost).
