Australia expansion
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/busi...-1226693749294
the negotiation will eventually go through where do you think CX will add flights? will they launch Darwin? |
Perhaps CX will increase frequencies for existing pax and cargo flights.
Possible new frequency: Additional flight to MEL Additional flight to BNE Possible new destinations: Hobart Gold Coast Darwin If negotiations fall through then CX better fast track discussions for a tie up with Virgin Australia; return the favor to Qantas given Qantas launching Jetstar Hong Kong. |
Australian airlines can access 45 frequencies per week between SYD/MEL/BNE/PER and HKG (not counting what QF is already using) and unlimited from other Australian ports.
I see no reason why the Australian government should allow additional ex-Hong Kong frequencies while there are 45 available ex-Australia frequencies. If negotiations fall through then CX better fast track discussions for a tie up with Virgin Australia. |
I am sure Australian airlines are not using up frequencies to almost all Asian cities they fly too, yet they keep getting new slots SQ , CHINA is the big one where Chinese airlines just keep asking for more slots and get it in spite of QF barely flying there
just because QF and VA cannot compete with CX why should CX not be allowed to expand, it benefits Australians anyway with more competition to Asia and Europe |

SQ repeatedly asks for AU-US slots and doesn't get them. |

There is a difference between getting to use a slot which is available for use and having to get a new agreement because all the existing possible slots are in use.
SQ repeatedly asks for AU-US slots and doesn't get them. are you seriously equating 5th freedom flight agreements with what CX wants?!!!! AU-US for SQ is a totally different matter (considering the fact that the Singaporean govt does not rule either of those countries!!!!) |
CX should up-gauge to larger aircraft once the cap is lifted - would be nice to F on AUS sectors. . . .
|
Quite an interesting statement from CX considering airlines operating in Australia are all suffering from pricing pressure due to the falling Dollar.

I'm surprised CX is that keen for a new bilateral. IMHO, a new agreement probably will lead to frequencies for Hong Kong Airlines to enter the Australia market.
|
maybe CX can try to negotiate for the rights to carry domestic passengers on ADL-MEL and CNS-BNE.
Also, CX can convert CX137/6, CX157/6 to daily. Also, CX can try to launch OOL flights with KA A330 (new J/Y seats) Also, CX can also offer F class (using 77H) to one of their existing SYD / MEL flights, probably CX111 for SYD and CX135 for MEL. |
