Diamond qualification extension plus mileage run?
Hello everyone,
My current GO membership expires on August 23rd, and I was really surprised to log onto CX's website and realised that I have been renewed GO on August 1st! I called MPC immediately and someone informed me that the system will automatically renew because I was substantially short of the 120k miles goal and not to "waste" my miles. At that point my miles stood at 87910 miles, and now I have 7479. After explaining to him that I am just about to travel in August, MPC Customer Service officer then asked me if I can complete the Diamond requirement by September 30th, and said he would grant me an extension to qualify. However, I will have to call Macro Polo after I complete the journeys and they will do it manually. While this sounds like excellent news, I am wondering if anyone else have similar experiences, and if I have to do anything to prove that this conversation actually took place? Now, although on paper, I have almost 2 months to complete this DM qualification, in effect, I only have less than a month because my semester starts soon. Originally, I had the following planned (which would comfortably lead me to DM): TPE to JNB (round trip): 17703 TPE to NRT (round trip): 3390 TPE to PEK (round trip): 4344 TPE to ORD (1 way): 10325 However, I think it is unrealistic to go to South Africa with such little preparation, so I would need to go somewhere else. Ideally, I would like to start from TPE, and want to go somewhere with minimal stress and hopefully cheaper as well. Maybe somewhere with same day turnaround? How tiring would it be? I am not particularly keen on US options because as a F-1 Visa holder, I don't really want to deal with immigration twice. And if I go back to the EU countries, would I get into troubles with VATs? Any suggestions will be appreciated! |
Very common to give a 1 month extension and for you to call back and assign you the attained tier. Don't worry about needing to prove this offer was extended to you.

Please do remember you need to be active in this as MPO will not do this for you. Which means:
1) You need to call MPO and ask for an extension, if it helps tell them about your future travels in a month or two that will help you requalify. 2) Once MPO approves your extension, all that means is they will make a note in your account that you are extended for a month or two to requalify your existing tier, however, please remember that you will still get downgraded to tiers belong as soon as you failed to requalify within the membership year. For example, if you only flown 109,000 miles and your membership year is up, you will go down to GO. 3) Once you made up that 11,000 miles, YOU NEED TO CALL MPO, MPO will not move you back up to DM automatically. You need to call them and say you have been extended and now you have enough miles to qualify you as DM again. |

He already have more than enough Club Miles for GO. OP wants to qualify for DM instead. |
leaccor stay calm OK, I would suggest OP contacts Whose travel in Taiwan as they have loads of great offers on right now and they can also advise him on same day turnarounds. If OP has time a good run would be Perth but I have not checked exactly what miles that could give you.

Why not go to the US and look for some domestic AA runs?
