CX seems to have gotten ahead of themselves.

I think two planes have new F. If you look at the fine print on the bottom there's a link to information about old F.

You have a good memory, mayodave. But the daily requests for information went on for months before the flight. : )

Other than B-KPR, what aircraft has been refreshed? I'm tracking KPR every single day.

B-KQG- technically not a refresh, it's a brand new aircraft. Enters service some time this month.

So no more 77Gs for CX?

If you don't want to answer, you don't have to.

I came across this new F trip report on CX.com and thought some of you might be interested: http://discovery.cathaypacific.com/c...lass-refreshed

this forum is becoming toxic, and many good people have left. Thanks for sticking around to answer people's questions. You can tell who are the repeat offenders in here. I guess FT is telling us regulars to rely on the "ignore list" function.

I concur. While I was one of those critical of the question whether J pax could dine with F pax in their suite, I find it a welcome change to find someone so thoroughly excited about an upcoming flight experience. I find her enthusiasm refreshing, and wish her well on her upcoming trip. Plus, she took my advice and booked an airport VIP arrival service at DPS, so she's obviously pretty sharp :p

another small change, it appears CX has installed the flower holders at all seats in the 777. I think that's a nice move. In the current (non-refreshed) 777 there are only lily holders I think in the D seats, I never understood why the window seats didn't get flowers on the new 777. Versus the 747, where all seats have them.

D seats didn't have flowers in their vaces on CX841 Aug 2, nor hand witten cards from crew. Service was outstanding, but I was surprised by these omissions.

the flowers were collected and disposed of upon arrival into JFK due to quarantine reason; therefore there was none on the way back.

But I've had them when leaving JFK. Was that just a fluke? They look sort of silly sitting there empty.

I noticed that too on my recent CX841 flight to HKG, vases empty in J seat I'm sitting. Didn't bother to check all vases, but figured it must be due to some quarantine reason. USA takes undeclared plants very seriously. Due to history of "foreign invasions" that destroys indigenous wildlife.

Err Hello if you recall she also has a damm good sense of humour which made it all the more fun to ask her which way the wind was blowing and what colour socks she was wearing

yamanote8 Aug 13, 2013 2:33 am

I haven't seen flowers in the vases on YVR/SFO-HKG v.v. flights in the past month or two. Now you guys have me curious, I'll have to ask why next time...

No, they've ordered a mix of 77Gs and 77Hs.

6xB777-300ER(2x77G & 4x77H)(B-KQG/H/I/J/K/L) will enter service in 2013

Just because someone is thick skinned and doesn't take insult doesn't make insulting others okay. Why do you feel the need to insult so many people on this forum? If you don't like what they say/ask then fine, but nobody is forcing you to answer.

I'm fairly certain it's humor and color.

Depends if you were educated with the Oxford English dictionary or the .......ised version http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/colour

still Shanghai Tang PJ's this week from the US.
Ugly color though.

How will I know if I'm in refurb or old F?

What's next "theatre" vs. "theater" or "lift" vs. "elevator"... I think this thread is going off into a wrong direction...

Has anyone had any experience with the new touch pad control? What's the response like? Any problems or glitches? Also they mentioned improvements to the reading light, it is suppose to cast less shadow... any experience with such?

Thank you,

PedroNY

I thought that I read previously that the refreshed planes are being retrofitted in China, but I see that we have a 77W on it's way from PAE to HKG. Could this be a new plane? Using multiple tools, I can't find it's reg.

A nasty "baby diarrhoea" brown Shanghai Tang PJs to JFK last week, not yet tried the new PYE ones.

I am sure someone's already asked this, but how many different colours of the ST ones? I have navy/burgundy/dark brown and light brown sets. What else is there?

Dark blue colour last week in F

We can hope the refresh is more successful than the web site refresh has been so far....

Medium brown Shanghai Tangs on 882 HKG-LAX on Sunday.

Finally got to try the refreshed F yesterday HKG to MNL. First ever flight to MNL I was told. Even cabin crew said it was their first time to use it. Color scheme is really nice but it'll probably show its age faster than the older scheme. The shell is really nice, flooring is better with the dark burgundy but the seat color might be an issue- lighter than the old one so stains show more easily (mine already had splash marks...).
Lavs were not really much different except for the wood panels. They also changed the sink to a rectangular one. They should be expecting more spillage from this as its smaller and shallower than the old round ones.
Bose headseats are now handed out instead of being inseat and outlets are now located outside the headset cubby. Best addition though are the touchscreen seat controls and the connectivity options (now as extensive as J seats).
All in all a very nice but subtle refresh.
If only they didnt leave my luggage in HKG....

Dr. HFH Sep 2, 2013 6:25 am

Had refurbished F on 831 Friday afternoon, 30 August. I really like the color scheme. That said, I agree that it will show dirt very fast. Both the dark red carpeting in the aisles and the dark gray in each suite are very nice, much more upscale. The round coaster built into the counter top above the seat controls has the same non-slip material which is on the serving trays, well thought out. The orchid holders were empty on my flight. PJs were the new ones, which I much prefer to the Shanghai Tangs. I thought that the material and the cut were both much nicer, and the color went with the overall cabin décor. Seat controls worked great, and the lighting and controls for it are both an improvement. I also liked the new seat material.

Lavatory not so much. As far as I can tell, the parts which are now black are the old gray pieces which have been spray painted. They definitely did not look new.

TheBOSman Sep 2, 2013 6:39 am

Had first CX F flight on Saturday. It seems my flight was not refurbished (which is good in a way, assuming I get another chance to fly CX F). ST PJs, black with green accents, look rather nice IMO, especially compared to some of the nasty colours (too much time in SIN/KUL/HKG this past week has classed up my English :D) I'm reading about here.

Thanks for your note.

I haven't had the refurbished F yet. I'm trying to gauge if this is something significantly different in your perspective? Or more like cosmetic type changes? Was there any change to the sleeping situation in your view? Any changes to the mattress pad, blanket, and pillow? On the whole do the changes make a material change to the in-flight quality?

aero0729 Sep 2, 2013 7:56 am

My only gripe with he refresh is they did not change the "plasticky" look of the screen casing and the interior walls of the suite. I think they should have used a gun metal or leather finish. Leather on the inside walls would have been much nicer and should have help up since you do not really site/touch the other side of the suite.

Not only the first ever flight to MNL for Refreshed F. It looks like you were on the very first commercial flight of B-KQG. Lucky you!

How can the seat be ruined before it has a flight?!!!- unless CX have some really careless retrofit staff
