MPC newbie question

Newbie into the forum, have read through the FAQ and CX&asiamiles website and still haven't found the answer I'm looking for.

Just got Green MPC with my AE CX Elite card (seems a bit poor considering people in other countries appear to be getting gold MPC instead).

2 questions:

1. Asiamiles that I have accrued, are these counted at the end of the year along with the MPC club miles when considering upgrades to the next MPC tier?

2. If I redeemed any of my asiamiles during the year, does it affect my MPC tier upgrade at the end of the year? i.e. if I earned 30k asiamiles in the year and redeemed 20k on a flight, will I still be bumped up to Silver?

Apologies if this seems basic, but been searching online for a while and still haven't found the answer to this.

Any advice from the veteran flyers would be much appreciated.

1. AM/MPC runs on a 12-months membership year. Not one that ends in December 31st. For miles to be eligible for next MPC tier, you will need to earn these Asia Miles ("Club Miles) by flying with CX or their partners. Credit card spending, promotional bonus, etc does not count.

2. Yes (you will still be upgraded to SL). Redeeming your mileage does not play a factor at all.

Many thanks for getting back to me so quickly CanucksHKG. So the important thing is I will need to fly 30k miles and not just earn 30k asiamiles.

Time to get flying!

30,000 club miles or 20 sectors.

What is typically called "Club Miles" are also known as "Butt-In-Seat" miles, i.e., there are no other ways to earn them but actually flying on the plane. You can spend as much as you want on your credit card and earn Asia Miles, but those miles will have NO bearing on your MPO tier status.

So think of it this way: to earn SL you need to fly 30K miles or 20 sectors a year, GO is 60K miles or 40 sectors, DM is 120K miles or 80 sectors. No other ways to move up the tier ladder.

Also do note that if you get to a certain tier you club miles will reset. So if you want GO, you need to get to SL = 30k club miles. And then you to earn another 60k club miles before you can get GOLD. For diamond you need and other 120k, therefore a total for 210k

Trust that with the link to AE you linked to your existing AM account number and you now have one integrated account.

In addition, please note that you can only earn MPO miles / sectors by flying on OW airlines (in eligible booking classes). Flying on CA, MU, etc. will not count.
