Which lounge to use?

Will be departing hkg to kix tomorrow, does anyone know what gate the plan normally depart from? Flight 506 i believe. Which lounge will be. Loser to the departure gate? Wing or Pier? Any preference as to which one to visit?
I can't seem to find a current menu, does one exist?

Why not wait till tomorrow (or...maybe a few more hours) and see which gate it will be parked at first than decide?

If you do a quick search (which you never do...) today's CX 506 left at Gate 69. Aka closer to the Pier.

P.S. Have you figured out where the "F Class checkin" will be yet?

Your assumptions are incorrect at times. Wouldn't you think i would check myself if i knew where to check? I guess im supposed to know for sure that a plane leaves at the same gate every flight according to you. How about you ignore my posts going forward if you are going to respond with a jackarse remark. I'd rather not get an answer than get one from a total jerk. Thank you.

Regardless which gate it leaves, I would say my preference of lounge are: Wing, Pier, G16, and then Cabin. If it is F access than no brainer it's Wing. If it's only J access than I would say go to Pier if it leaves around in the 60s. Personally, I dislike the Cabin.

Thanks CB. I appreciate a non-attacking informative response.

You'll find it's not useful to ask which gate a particular flight will depart from. Aside from some general patterns (U.S.-bound flights tend to go from 3/4/21, Australia from the high 60s) to which there are still exceptions, everything else is a total grab bag.

You'll also find that the which-lounge question has been discussed ad nauseum, including on the FAQ thread at the top of the forum. Cathay Boy has helpfully given you the cliffs notes version, although YMMV -- the new-car small of the Wing J has worn off for me, so I just go to whichever lounge is closer to my gate.

While another poster on this thread may have greeted you with a certain un-Canadian lack of friendliness and charm, FT tends to work best -- most information conveyed with least amount of irritation on all sides -- if users turn to FAQ threads and search first. I would still recommend you do that, since you'll find much more information on all the issues raised in this tread than we'll get to here.

HKIA's website shows 26/Mar CX506 will be parked at gate 15.

I highly recommend you check out the G16 Lounge. It's right infront of the gate...2 steps away. The Wing and Pier will be quite a walking distance.

Depending on how you define "quite" but from Gate 3 to 15 is not going to lay anyone out flat due to exhaustion. The Cabin is close as well. The only one that might involve a trek would be the Pier.

If access to F lounge: Wing, no brainer
If access to J lounge only: then G16 might be a better option if you really like your hong kong style roast pork, and then oriental noodle soups with fish balls/cakes available. Otherwise, if you are indifferent towards food but just want a wide variety of food and drinks and relax, then Wing is the better choice.

Of course, if walking as little as possible if your aim, then G16

Comparing J lounges, I sometimes prefer the QF lounge, as they actually have quite a good food selection and makes a difference from the usual CX offering. When the QF lounge isn't busy (ie no QF/BA flights), they will actually bring you food after ordering on a menu.

I went to the F Class lounge before and asked, but they said there is no menu and only what is on the Buffet. Definitely not as good as CX. But you are correct it is quite. Also they serve VCP Champagne and have a self serve HD Ice Cream drawer

You may have gone during a time when BA/QF flights were scheduled. In the J lounge, if they are stocking the buffet, there is no menu. It's only when there is no food laid out that they have food to order.
