Asia Miles Upgrade question
 
I will be flying from SFO to Hong Kong with a 3 day stopover and then continuing to Bali. I will then come back to SFO through Hong Kong. I want to upgrade from premium economy to business using Asia Miles and I am wondering if I can upgrade just the SFO to HKG/HKG to SFO part of the trip? It would save 30,000 (its for 2 people) and the HKG to bali flight isn't very long.

Yes, it is doable. I upgraded JFK-HKG (return) part of my upcoming JFK-CGK trip.

Yes.
But, what booking class is your HKG-DPS segments ?
There are many types of aricraft for this segment and CX does not sell premium economy class and first class even 744 is used.

If base booking classes are different between SFO-HKG(W or R?) and HKG-DPS(Y ?), how does asiamiles calculate required miles ?
