So did any Emerlad/Sapphire elites from other OW airlines get any luck when checking in the CX flights with excess baggages and weight? Kindly share your experience here and let me know where you checked in your flights. I really don't wanna pay extra US$200 for my ski equipment!:(
I have a feeling that even if I get luck at HKG, by the time when I return to HKG from CTS, I don't think the Japanese CX agent (probably JAL agent) at CTS will allow me to check in my ski equipment without costing me extra even with my Emerald status. Japanese trends to do things "according to the book only" without any flexibility. |

It depends on the check-in agent. They may allow 2-3 kg more in HKG, but there is no guarantee. They will not allow an extra bag. If you are way in excess of the allowance, I would suggest you go with ANA (or a *A airline).

I thought you (or maybe someone else?) have mentioed this before, but when we ask for proofs we never see any. In fact, with different airlines allowing different numbers of pieces and weights depending on class I see this quite impossible today.

Well - it is subject to interpretation, but here you go:
http://www.dot.gov/sites/dot.dev/fil...EAPP_2_FAQ.pdf Basically 14 CFR 399.87 will be the authority. "In the case of a passenger itinerary composed of more than one ticket, the rule does not require a downline carrier to apply the baggage allowances or fees of the first carrier if the flight of the first carrier is on a separate ticket from the other flights" I can see same ticket is ok but separate ticket and separate airlines = no way. ESP with etix and eBP people can fake a BP and then claim more baggage allowance. |

When I fly on Qantas (out of SYD) I don't even get priority tags! when I've complained about this in the past I get the (correct) response - Baggage allowances/priority are not covered by one world agreements. Its entirely up to the airline concerned.
In SYD even if the Check in girl adds a tag it gets ripped of by the baggage team and sorted according to the electronic tag (Y). She even showed me the screen which stated baagage = Y, and put a FC tag on. When I got the bag with the economy bags there was no tag. Out of HKG its fine by the way on QF. |

Thanks for the document. Unfortunately, as others have said here, I don't think there's anything in the document that marginally supports your point. In fact, I can't find "30 days" anywhere. In addition, I don't think the U. S. has jurisdiction over, say, a separate TKT bought overseas that does not involve any U. S. destination.
But that "30 days" thing was something GA told me. BTW - the "U.S." jurisdiction is way larger that everyone can imagine: http://www.dot.gov/airconsumer/eo-2012-10-2 |

Part of the problem with One World on this is the inconsistency. If I travel WLG-SYD-HKG on QF and CX respectively, I don't have any excess luggage allowance (as I don't have QF status). Coming back, I am allowed the extra luggage.

how does this work with codeshare? I have an upcoming trip in which all flights (Y) are marketed by AA but some are operated by CX and JL. I am AA EXP; will I be able to check 2 bags for free? Thanks!
