I was invited to OLCI for my 0130 ex JFK flight to HKG On 2November will do so shortly that means CX metal will be coming in tomorrow for sure. As I see it the 1455 departure tomorrow will be the first out of JFK ( possibly delayed) with normal service thereafter.

I suspect there will be very limited catering, though. i should have booked via Vancouver :(

I think the 1000 service will run as well.

It is November 1 - 7:26am New York time

Looking over the tarmac now (from Hilton JFK)...

Spotted the CX 77W sitting at Terminal 7

CX 888 has arrived on time this morning.

CX 841 will depart on schedule.

EWR already are sending flights to Beijing yesterday, so it's good JFK is starting to send pax to Asia. I can't imagine the mess CX is in having to accommodate pax in the previous 10+ cancelled flights.

Im not, but to let you know CX846 has departed on time, so no problem.

As CX are advising on their website, arrive early as you may encounter delay or disruption due to unreliable ground transportation at this point. I don't think this will affect flight departure though.

Checked in 3.5 hours easrly, a record for me, and awaiting departure in the terracers lounge... everything smooth except no wifi..!

I just boarded CX889. I'm 1/6 in F, so the backlog and open ups can't be atrocious.

It should be better than imagined.

1. Excess capacity in ORD should be able to help out a lot.

2. If AA is involved in the reservation, some of those pax may not be able to make it to JFK as early as you think.

3. PANYNJ handles this very well - by proactively shut down the airports before. So no mess like LHR in the snow or HKG in typhoon.

Yep, no WiFi when I flew out earlier, and the F lounge is a zoo with many pax unable to find a place to sit and flow over to J lounge instead. The computer terminals still have internet.

There will probably be low demand for a while to and from JFK. Likely only New Yorkers will want to be coming back home, and out of towners wanting to leave. Meanwhile most business related traffic will not have started up yet.

Saw this article: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/11/...ing-a-concern/

Probably a bit over-hyped, but in short: Some domestic carriers have worried about fuel availability and are flying shorthaul flights in with extra fuel to do the turnaround. Since that isn't an option for ultra-longhaul operations like CX at JFK, the issue of whether there will be enough fuel probably factors high on the list of factors mgmt considers when decided to re-start operations. Just another piece of the irrops puzzle.
