Miles redemption for infant

My baby girl is only 4 months old and she probably needs to travel next month.

I know for revenue ticket, infant will have to pay 25% (correct me if I am wrong). What about for miles redemption...also 25% the miles required for adults?

A child or infant Nominee is treated the same as an adult Nominee and requires the same mileage credits for award travel. Corporations or other legal entities cannot be Nominees.

it's probably cheaper to buy outright discounted child Y-fare for infant than pay 25% of full fare.

4mths you probably want a bassinet as opposed to a seat so i suggest you buy infant ticket instead of redeeming a seat for his/herself.

You can always buy discounted Y and then call MPO that you have infant and for them to put you on the infant seat. I've never tried it but I would think MPO should be flexible enough to do this, or is there a policy that only pax with infant fare attached can sit in infant seat?

Infant is 10% of full fare but is without a seat. If you need a seat, then the child fare which is 25%.

Thanks for the advice everyone :)

It would be 75% for a child seat not 25%

Check your facts. CX has raised infant fare to be 25% full price. Child seat is 75% full price. Which is why some argue you might as well buy discount adult fare, which for some seasons, are actually cheaper than child fare.

+1 Make things simple. If you are traveling with children, try not to use miles.

Slightly off topic.

Some special fares such as One World Explorer have child fare discount.
OWE fare for children is 75% of adult fare.
Also, ex-JPN published discount fares of CX have child discount.
75% of discounted fares are applied for children.

So, some cases, you don't have to pay 75% of full fares for children.

CX's ex-USA child fares are also at 75% of the published fares.

It is difficult to imagine infant fares being 25% of full fare.

An old post in 2009 about 25% infant fare:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...cket-fare.html

No doubt CX is doing it on purpose to discourage family with infant travelers to travel with CX, or be ready to pay a bundle for the privilege of doing so with your infants...

Ex-TPE, infants are 12% of nett adult fare. I suppose different markets are different.
