18/6 is a public holiday so yeah you might have to wait. Quite a bit
I waited for Singapore 8-10/12 last year since getting a wedding invite in January and it took me til September to clear that (plan B was Jetstar, but I needed the suitcase for the suit...) (a xxxxload of seats was released that day - the Missus's birthday - we even called it Patricia Hwang's special birthday present for Missus) |

Thanks for the data point. Was looking for that weekend and Good Friday as well. SQ has plenty of award space in J/Y, zero on CX. My Plan B is SQ for the SIN-HKG vv segments.

Mid June is one - 18/6 (meaning 16-18/6 is long weekend)
End March/early April is three: 30/3, 2/4 and 5/4. Meaning 30/3-2/4 is a four day holiday, 5-8/4 is a four day holiday for one day leave, or 30/3-8/4 is 10 days off for three days leave (8/4 is like mission impossible right now) |
im waitlisted (2 J seats) from HKG-MEL on the 5/4.. guess my chances are 0 ? should i change it to 6/4 instead ?

There are three holidays that week - Good Friday, Easter and Chingming. It is difficult to get award. I suggest you go for Plan B.

2 J seats released for 5/4, but i've already made another award booking via SQ :-( ..

People are starting to return to Hong Kong by then, but there are also some returning to Australia. There is also HK Sevens on 6-8 April, but you are flying the opposite direction. I would think that PEY ->J upgrade redemption will be easier, but chance is still slim.
