Does CX Allow Dupe Ticketing?
I'm a little bit spoiled, I've flown CX transpacific at four times in the last year, in J and F, and once in Y. Although Y is OK, I am a little sore at arrival and a little more jetlagged than I like to be. I have another trip coming up in May, paid by my employer in Y. Ticket is issued by AA, for ORD-HKG on CX 807.
I have a LOT of miles and I'd like to purchase a separate ticket for myself, one way, just for the ORD-HKG segment. But I want to keep the AA ticket, as I need the return segment from PEK-ORD on AA. I think I know the answer to this, but will CX will allow two of me to fly on the same flight? |
I'm not sure about CX, but if your carrier has a policy of canceling itins if you miss a leg, you technically missed the outbound leg of your reservation on AA.

I was hoping I could check in under both tickets! How do airlines that require plus size passengers to purchase two seats handle this?

What if you paid your employer the fare difference between Y and F and ask to have the ticket reissued? or perhaps not have the employer pay for your airline ticket?
Sometimes it is cheaper if you pay for a round trip F ticket out of your own pocket than to buy another F one-way ticket. |

You need to make up your mind how to handle this. People who book 2 seats have a way of doing this via CX. You won't be doing that. You either upgrade your segment (with cash) or tell your employer that you won't fly in Y. If you miss one segment or whatever, you risk the entire ticket being cancelled and not usable unless you sort out your priorities. |
Why can't you have your employer buy just PEK ORD?
If it is more expensive, have they check buying PEK ORD as a roundtrip and dropping the second segment? Technically against airline rules but CX unlikely will do anything about it unless you are pulling this off frequently. |
