US-based Premier MC for overseas spending
More or less optimal for #cards carried.

Substitute the Amex CX Elite for a DBS Black because of better local earn on AE ($6 vs $8/mile) and deferred redemptions.

I understand US HSBC Premier has "no foreign transaction fee".
I wonder if that means they also absorb Mastercard's 1% fee
(in HK, the nearest equivalent is "no foreign currency translation fee" and is offered by Public Bank and Aeon but it is understood they pass on the 1% Visa/Mastercard fee:

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...ow.php?id=9872)
But I don't suppose HSBC can get away with passing the fee without disclosure in the US, so HSBC US will win CX Elite and Citi Premiermiles who charge 2% and 1.95% over Amex and Visa rate respectively.

Consider carrying the DBS Black to China or any place where you get DCCed.

I believe it might be targeted. But it's not that "secret"....seems to be quite common.

Checking my SMS', they sent me:

"Call 2233 3777 / Go online by 31 Aug to apply HSBC Visa Platinum Card to receive Fujifilm Instant Camera. Terms apply. Enquiry/Unsubscribe 2748 8033
- August 11, 2012

"Last 2 weeks final call. Call 2233 3777/Go online to apply HSBC Visa Platinum Card and enjoy $400 RewardCash. Terms apply. Enquiry/Unsubscribe 2748 8033"
- August 29, 2012

Then again:
"Call 2233 3777 by 28 Mar to apply HSBC Credit Card to receive $400 RewardCash. Terms apply. Enquiry/Unsubscribe 2748 8033"
- February 27, 2013

They mailed me their application form a few times in past few months too.
When I log into my HSBC account, it's right on the very first page and almost every where....

This link may or may not work: https://www1.ebanking.hsbc.com.hk/1/..._D_PACMAS_21_X

Many thanks for sharing.

I logged in, clicked on the prom040 link and could see the same invite as your gif. When I clicked Proceed I was asked for my Security Device and Code. But after I keyed mine in I got "Credit Card Application Form (By Invitation)" header and blank page.

So yes it's invite-only.

P.S. I was wondering should you sell your (HSBC) virginity for this promo...but then I think it's reasonable, and HSBC might very well let you play other welcome promos even tho you're not a virgin (applying for more HSBC cards)

Last two offers
May 12: https://www.hsbc.com.hk/1/PA_esf-ca-...m202_tnc_e.pdf
Jul 12: https://www.hsbc.com.hk/1/PA_esf-ca-...m214_tnc_e.pdf

You might as well lose your virginity to the targeted offer now and wait for further (public) sign up future sign-up offers as existing card user.

I have 7 HSBC cards (not counting subs) as a result...cos most T&C of sign-up offers also include clause saying you are not eligible if you have terminated cards on or after date X.

Bit slutty I admit. I think I'll do a mass slaughter on 31 Oct then...better mark diary.

P.S. just checked, can't transfer RC from cut cards...must redeem.

RE: HSBC PROMO 228

Have anyone been monitoring their activity?

Before and after I made a purchase....there's now 7 RC increase.
The activity has finally been posted today (I only made this one purchase in the past week), and it comes to CAD $42 spent in Canada oversea, $330 HKD.

-This was an purchase made in store, not online.
-I have registered for the promotion.
-I'm no where above the $300RC cap for this promotion.

This sounds more like the old $2.78/mile rate...?
Not the $0.9/mile rate as it's suppose to be with the current promotion...

Ah...thanks

You mentioned in a couple pages ago (or maybe different thread) you had to sent in a request to HSBC for missing points.

How often....and any other FTer's....actually consolidate their reward points from their credit card programs?

I didn't. I thought there were missing HSBC RC, but a call to CS put me right.

Consolidation - through my MPO account. I don't credit til I am either running short of miles, or the RC are about to expire.
