Headphone problems in business class?
Howdy - I flew CX807 ORD-HKG on 11/28, and CK838 HKG-YVR on 12/15. Both in business class.
On both flights - my headphones had major issues. Both times the issue was clearly the connector - if it got jostled even slightly the headphones would start emitting really loud, awful sounds. The FAs replaced the headphones on both flights - but that only seemed to make the problem a bit better. How typical is this? I was pretty surprised to have this problem in both directions. I should mention that CX807 had the more updated business class cabin, while CX838 was clearly an older style. |
You can read my experiences with this at this thread:

I had this too. I first swapped headphones and it still did it, then I swapped seat and it still did it. I flew 4 sectors and I recall problems in two of them.
The thing that annoyed me most though was that the screen is really dark even at the maximum brightness. Even worse if you're lying down and not directly in front of it. |
I forgot to mention that on my return flight I noticed that they had multiple boxes of those headphones in one of the overhead storage compartments. Whenever somebody would complain they'd grab one from there.
The headphones otherwise were pretty good. But they gotta fix that connector. |
well I think the connector is always the "weakest link" of the headphone afterall ... I asked for a replacement of my Denon earphone 3 times already and my Panasonic Noise Cancelling earphone start to have problem with the connector (which I will need a replacement wire. good that it is modular I just need to replace that part)
it just part of life |

I've had many problems with headphones. Y, old-coffin, and was surprise that my first experience on new Cirrus J also had headphone problem. it's nothing new and I've just learned to deal with it as the FAs usually can't do a darn thing.

Apple iPhone Headset
I would bring my reliable Apple iPhone headset just in case the noise canceling headset would not function properly. This is the usual problem with noise cancelling headset.

That's too bad really, I usually have my own with me so in case this does happen, I have a backup.

Time to upgrade the headphones as well with a better quality brand.^ Should upgrade headphones across all classes including the regional fleet once the seats get upgraded.
