Getting gold early?
 

Hi guys, I'm 9k short of gold right now and I really need gold for the seat guarantee and I was wondering if Cathay would grant it to me earlier? I have a HKG-JFK round trip booked and a couple of other regionals before the end of my membership year so I am definitely going to hit gold, question is only hitting it earlier .

I assume you needed seat gurantee for chinese new year, tough luck sorry... but you just have to pay those outrageous Y-fare to travel when u want during CNY.... hopefully next year you will be gold and do not face the same grief.

It is unbelievable... for the Y prices (there are VERY few Y left) I could get business class tickets, and when I asked about business class: ALL SOLD.

This however is for Christmas travel. Oh how I wish I was gold now...

missing by 9000? how about a MR to SYD/MEL then force your way through for xmas

On a separate note, I have a friend who clocked up around 30 Club Sectors last year and did not make it to MPC Gold. As such, he was renewed as a Silver member.

Can I check if MPC will consider the excess "10 Club Sectors" taken during the last membership year and grant him a Gold status once he hits 30 Club Sectors during this membership year?

Agree with kaka - that could indeed make sense if the costs for your Y full fare trip are really that expensive.

For sure not. If at all (and it is no right), then they're usually only flexible when missing by a small amount and for 1-2 months max. for the _old_ membership year. The reset to zero after already processed renewal (and upgrade as well) is hard and non-negotiable.
