Nothing new. CX does this at some outports as well (Example: YYZ)

I guess this perk only matters if you are in a situation where you are competing for carry-on luggage storage space. On long haul F and J this is rarely an issue.

I flew HKG-BKK a few weeks ago in J (on an F ticket...damn floods) and as we were all lining up a rotund Englishman charged up to the front and shouted "Diamond.". He was permitted to board first. Should I have followed with "Emerald!"? :p

They would... Thank god I'm not the only Greek that is still somewhat active and has a passion for airlines and hotels. :D You don't even know the stuff I have to deal with :rolleyes:

Nobody in my house understands why I travel so much. They freak out when I miss a party to go on a mileage run. But then when they see my pictures from breaks (and the F cabin shots) suddenly they are jealous :D

I know you CX'ers just love we AA flyers paying 67.5k miles for F from North America ;)

But isn't the point of flying F/J or being Diamond/Emerald that you don't have to get to the gate early and wait in lines?

I was recently on an F award JFK-HKG, and I was irritated that I had to wait in a scrum (line is really too dignified a term) of 50 J pax to board the plane, especially when I knew there were 6 or fewer F pax on the flight. :D
