Your miles are BIS miles right?

Mine are mostly non-BIS, so I'm stuck with CX awards...

My CX miles are BIS miles

My AA miles are dollar-for-mile miles

I've just read a similar thread on the SQ board http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/singa...-new-post.html (KF vs Aeroplan). Seems like Aeroplan/AA miles are worth more than KF/AM cos they charge fuel surcharge whereas the Canadian/American programs do not.

Charge fuels and "fees". Like I said last year a child-award ticket cost me close to $600. At AA no matter what class you're redeeming the cost will be between $25-75. There's no comparison.

Last year, I paid about $900 in total on surcharges/fees/taxes for 2 one-way CX coach awards on BA to AMS and fare for an infant on lap. For the return trip, I used my AA points for BA business, I paid about the same amount in fees/surcharges/taxes and infant on lap fares.

It seems to me that CX adds its fees on top of those charged by BA.

You might want to be careful with that because AE will charge some fees depending on the carrier you use.

Getting some cheap miles at Petro Canada might help.....
(Look at my thread)

Oh yeah speaking of surcharges, VS whacked me with surcharges at similar levels to CX for redemptions.

But they have J availability and CX didn't on HKG-SYD - no comparison.
