CX F - Skipping the Main Course

When flying CX F, does anyone here skip the main course during meal service and have just the caviar/appetizers/salad/soup/cheese/desert?

I am finding that the western options for main courses to be rather lacking in choice. Its always a choice of either a meat or pasta dish.

Usually I put together a new main from the Chinese menu. Many of the crews overcook the poor Beef Tenderloin that I see on every JFK/ORD-HKG sector. Its tough to survive in F as I am sure most of this forum would agree.

No, the two times I've had in F I enjoyed the scrumptious meals !

I've actually "picked" my way through the menu, selecting items from both the asian and international sides. Sometimes no main, sometimes multiple items from the main. So far cabin crew has always been nice and accommodating.

I prefer to eat my meal based on the time zone where i'm headed even if it means breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast. Your in F mix it up however you want

if you do eat EVERYTHING but mains, you should still be full enough to pass through the flight. or else you could still get the noodles. dont forget you can usually get seconds on a few dishes...
I've once skipped a J mains and had seconds on appetizer/salad.

How impressed would they be if I ordered one of everything?

If you ate it all, probably quite impressed.

I suspect they would say that they might have to wait for all the other orders to see if they had enough.

If you did get all the dishes delivered, and you only ate a bit of each, aside from what the FAs think, it's quite immature and inconsiderate.

And if you managed to get out of your suite afterwards, even more so!

Not that I would do it, but if you wanted to sample one of each dish, and provided that there was enough loaded so all pax in the cabin got their first choice, I don't see why the crew would baulk. The food has to be incinerated on landing anyway so it's not as if it will be wasted. At most you deprive the crew of having whatever isn't ordered and is left over.

I have had the noodles/wonton soup "snack" for my main instead of what's officially on offer. Worked out just fine, except that it was more (read larger) than I expected.

I usually do, unless one of the mains is more likely than not to be good (which is rare).

caviar & salmon /soup/ noodles (snack option) / cheese & fruit / pralines.

Filling enough...

Noodles and crab cakes for lunch instead of a main. Usually 2 crab cakes for the snack but they tripled and gave me 6. They ran out on the flight but had plenty of main courses left so everyone was happy.

Pretty much always do this. There is more than enough food with the other courses and the mains are rarely that good (although I had a rather good braised lamb shank on a HKG-SIN flight late last month).

Whenever I fly CX First class I eat my meal in the following order: caviar/salad/main course/desert.

On many occasions I don't eat the whole main course not because I am full but because I am not a big fan of CX western food choices.
