Qantas strikes in Australia
 

For those who think you will be unaffected by industrial action at qantas, just stepped off a SYD flight and there was limited catering in all classes due to qantas ground crew strikes. CX had catered out of HK, but lunch was half a sandwich, soup, cheese, fruit and dessert. Second meal was a hot dish choice of 2, and fruit and dessert all served on one tray. This was in J.

What ? I think you should send an email to CX to contract it out to somebody else while the strike is on, that MIGHT be acceptable in Y MAYBE, but not in J !

It was the same deal in Y on CX162/20 SEP. To CX's credit, they did tell me at check in and suggest I eat in the lounge before boarding. But it's now 10 days on and it seems they're still doing the same thing. You would have thought they could get their act together and make alternative catering arrangements by now.

To CXs defence, the industrial action are 1-4 hour stopworks. So it is difficult for cx to get a new supplier for odd days here and there.

Did CX give out meal coupons then?

This had been done when there was limited onboard catering on LHR flights (due to volcano or snow or whatever) last year.

Meal coupons were given out, but they said the reason was the delay, not the catering.

So Qantas catering staff will be locked out from Monday. I wonder what the onboard catering experience ex-Australia will be like.

The management of the airline has cancelled all services on Qantas branded flights, except Jetstar and Qantas link.

No it's not but as of 8 pm Monday night all unionized staff are locked out which includes TWU which covers catering.

The thread was started 1 Oct ;). Throw in JetConnect services across the Tasman too for non-cancelled services!
