CX 257

Hello all,

I have an upcomming flight on CX 257 (74A) in J.

I know this is a daylight flight, but b/c of my arrival from SYD at 05:00 AM, I am planning to sleep again on the CX 257. (Night time in LHR)

So what is the best class for a good sleep on a daylight flight? I am thinking of upgrade the flight to F. Do anyone know what the best "dark" seat is at the plane (74A). I am now at 81A, b/c no window's at the front of the upperdeck, so I think it will be dark. Do you know if the window's will be closed in F or J? And what will be the best seat for a sleep in F? 2K?

Also the food, will the serve the food at the right begin of the flight and the end? Or will the serve food at the begin of tghe flight and 3/4 of the flight, b/c of a daylight flight.

I am looking for a way to maximize the time for sleeping/relaxing.

I am arriving at 5:00 AM at HKG from SYD, do you advise to skip the breakfast for a longer sleep and take a breakfast at the lounge?

Any advise to minimize the jetlag from SYD (dept 22:20 PM) to LHR (arr 16:00 PM)

Thanks for your input! I really apriciate it....

Based on my experience this week, 81k and 82k were definitely the less light polluted seats on an UD 744, given there were no windows.

Hi, I was on CX257 earlier this week. Brunch was served immediately after take-off. Then strangely 4 hours after this first meal service, dinner was served. Not everyone got up for this, as the timing was midway through the flight (7 hours into it). Snacks can be ordered from the menu for the remaining hours.

Hope this is helpful!

Thanks for your input,

That is what I mean, the serve a meal 7 hours into the flight, so I think I can better take F and ask if the can serve dinner before landing, so I have a long time between the meals.

That said, it mean's also that all the light's will be on at meal time...

What do you prefer with the meals? At begin and end of the flight or at the begin and 7 hours into the flight?

In F, you can count on the window shades being closed. The cabin will most likely be as dark as if it's night. While pax may keep their shades open if they wish, of course (much discussion about that issue in another thread), they will be outliers. Meals are exactly what you want when you want. Since the cabin will likely be dark, there is no "best dark seat" as such. 2A and 2K are the seats which are furthest away from other seats.

Advice about when to sleep? Depends entirely on you and your body rhythm, body clock. Personally, I'd skip the breakfast on the SYD-HKG leg. Breakfast on the plane will never be as good as the breakfast which The Peninsula puts on in The Wing. That applies to CX F service, too; so I'd eat breakfast in The Wing. The F cabin on 257 won't go dark immediately after takeoff; but let the cabin crew know that you plan to sleep, so that they are at least aware of your preference. They can, and do, serve meals in the dark. When pax are eating, they simply use their reading and overhead lights. And, of course, there's always the off chance that you'll be the only F pax, in which case the cabin will be dark when you want it that way. It's happened to me twice, both on 884, HKG-LAX, 744, old F.

I personally dont really like taking J in CX257, since, as previous replies have said, the meal times are weird and I've arrived into london hungry :(
Also, one thing which has bothered me in the past was the mood-lighting on this flight, since they keep it on ( in a mild blue tone) in J, so despite the cabin being 'dark', there's still light.. if you get what i mean
