Book under KA or CX flight code?
Hi all,
I'm going to be flying on a KA operated short-haul flight in June. I'm just wondering in terms of op-up chances, is there a difference between booking through CX or KA .... does the flight code matter in this case ? |
It makes no difference. Your BP will be showing the KA flight number anyway.

I would presume that if you're on the operating airline's ticket stock, it would be marginally better.

I recently even received an op-up on CX while flying on AA ticket and flight number.

Seems to make a difference in multisector MFUs - Asiamiles appears to croak when the sectors are on separate carriers and responds asking that separate mileage upgrade requests be made. I don't recall seeing that when I use the CX codeshare instead of KA.

If booking online on CX's website, I always book the CX flight code, even if it is a flight operated by KA. In that way, I can ensure I get the bonus miles from online booking and paying with the Cathay American Express card. I have heard that this online booking bonus is not applicable if you book on dragonair.com.
