Mystery of the disappearing redemption availability
Not sure whether I should post this in the AM or BA forum, but thought I'd start here.
I have enough AM to redeem for 2 JNB-CPT tickets on BA, and enough BA miles to redeem 1 ticket on the same flight. BA.com showed more than 3 seats available for my chosen flight. I called AM to redeem the 2 seats, AM customer service contacted BA to hold the 2 seats prior to ticketing. My AM redemption was then processed. After which I immediately tried to redeem for the 3rd seat on BA.com but the entire flight has disappeared! Questions: When AM calls BA to hold the 2 seats in question, does BA place a "stop redemption" on the entire flight and not just the 2 seats? My AM redemption hasn't been ticketed yet, but once the 2 seats are ticketed, I sure hope the rest of the availability will be released on BA.com - will they? Has anyone experienced similar issue when redeeming through different FFPs for OW seats on the same flight? |
Have you thought about the possibility that someone booked the same flight while you were making your booking?

Very very unlikely... there are about a dozen flights a day on BA on this JNB-CPT route and when I checked minutes before calling AM, there were 4+ seats in J and 4+ seats in Y for redemption. I still suspect entire flight's redemption is put on hold as long as there is a seat that's been reserved for a OW redemption (not sure whether the fact that this is a Comair flight operated as BA has anything to do with it).
Will check as soon as my AM redemption is ticketed to see if the flight hold is released. |
