How early can I check in?

I have about a 6 hour connecting in HKG and wanted to get rid of my bags first thing when I land from my inbound flight. How early can I check in for my flight? Is there such as being too early as long as its the same day?

There is no problem - 6 hours is nothing, and since HKG will always have CX counters open, simply go to any check in counter and get rid of your bags.

Does the same go for most other carriers in HKG lets say EK or is it just CX since thats their hub out of curiosity. Thanks!

Not sure for other carriers, but CX allows baggage check-in for 24 hours (I've done it many times, but not more than 24 hours.)

Since you didn't provide details as to which carrier you are flying inbound or if same ticket....this may not work but usually you can check your bags all the way from departure airport to destination...that way you won't even have to worry about your bags in HKG.

Also the airport express stations (2 of them in the city with check in facilities) allow you to do same day check in for many airlines - you can be flying at any time - key is same day check in. So even if your airline desk isn't open for check in at the airport, if they have service at the airport express stations you can check in there.

I Believe the rule is 24 hours as Cathay Boy mentioned, no need to be same day.
Although I haven't tried, in Feb 2011, I specifically asked the CX check-in in HK Station. They told me, Yes, I can bring my bags to check-in the day before as long as it's within 24 hours.

Will be flying on CX845 - any indication whether it's possible to check bags in at JFK around 8pm (flight departs at 1:20am)?

Thanks!

according to http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/nl_...s?cityCode=NYC the check-in counter should be open at 8pm and I guess you can then check your bags for the 1am flight as well.

In town HK station check in...

Is it 24 or 48 hours prior to departure time at HK Station?

How early can I check in?

The service named "Day-before ITCI", but not every airline provides such service.

On CX for US-bound flights, exactly 24 hrs before.

All other CX flights incl CX 888 terminating in YVR, the day before.
