Do you have a preference? Airbus 33B or 34B

I did search to see if I could find any discussion on this and found no results, so if this has been discussed, please let me know.

I am going to be flying HKG-JNB next month; scheduled on an Airbus A340 (34B). At least the return JNB-HKG is confirmed in business. I'm hoping the mileage gods will open up space on the outbound. We'll see.

But my question is... does anyone have any comments about flying the 34B vs. the 33B in either Y or J? I flew the 33B NRT-HKG a few months ago in J and quite enjoyed it.

The J seats according to seatguru are virtually the same... although the 33B has more of them!

If you had the choice on a given route, which aircraft would you pick?
Also curious about comments of Y class on both aircrafts. Would I assume correctly they're very similar products?

Thanks for any comments or thoughts. Lanny

The Y seat on both the 34B and 33B is identical. It is the latest fixed back longhaul economy seat that was introduced around 2008. You will find this on long-haul flights.

With regard to the aircraft, The A330-300 will probably be a newer plane than the A340-300 however as both have the latest Y and J products, from a Pax point of view, it shouldnt be too different.

Good luck for getting the J seat on the HKG-JNB leg. If it is an A340, there will be a relativley small business class, but hopefully they will still have space for your mileage upgrade! The J seat will be appreciated on that leg as it is an overnight flight.

Any general preferences which people would prefer to fly if you had the choice?

34B for me. More comfort in J and Y from flying both IMOE.
