HK to ICN, which side to sit?
 

Hi all, I will be flying from Hk to Seoul soon, it will be my first flight there, which side of the plane should i sit on if I want to see the best view upon landing? Thanks!

I don`t think it makes so much difference landing into ICN where you sit. The airport is far away from the city. Mostly planes land out of the south, meaning you have on the left hand side (mostly) seaviews and on the right hand side landviews. On taking off at HKG there is a chance you will fly over the city, in that case the right hand side is better, if you however turn away from Lantau there will be some views on the left again... (depending on when your flight leaves and the weather).

Upon arrival into HKG. It`s either seaview on both sides or some skyline views on the left upon approach.

so take your pick.

I had only been Seoul once and that was 17 yrs ago, so, I cannot comment which side has better view. But I do have some suggestions as general:

(1) See the view from the plane depends on which direction the plane approach the runway, isn't it? (eg HKG, sometimes approach from HK Island side, sometimes from Macau side, depending on the wind direction...)

(2) For me, if I fly in early morning, it means the sunlight can be very bright if you would like to keep window open. So, I usually choose the opposite side so that I can enjoy some view without sunlight burning me.

Depending on what time of day the flight is, you may wish to sit on the opposite side the sun is shining, because this will enable you to keep the window open throughout the flight.

hi all,

i have arrived in seoul now, sat on the right hand side and arrived just after 3pm today. the sun was shining that direction, but not too bad, view was ok but not that much to see approaching the airport actually, hk was very foggy today, so saw nothing out the window also!
