cx connecting to Shekou ferry
Hi I am arriving on CX from JFK and need to go to Shenzhen, Shekou
area. I understand there is a ferry. Do i have to go through immigration as I will have checked in bags, or is there a way to have my bags transfer. (do i need to buy a ferry ticket in advance so i can show it at check in at JFK for bags to transfer). Also in need to go back from Shekou to kowloon in the evening what is the easiest way to do that. Thanks for any advice |
No, you don't have to go through immigration. Just follow signs for ferry connection after you get to HKG and buy your ferry tickets then and there. Show your checked luggage tag and they'll go fetch the bags for you from baggage claim.
There are ferries from Shekou back to HK Island, but not very frequent and last one departs 7:15p. Instead you can just take a cab to the Shenzhen Bay border crossing. Once past HK immigration, you can purchase tickets for one of the frequent buses to various points in HK. |
Supposing that you're not only flying one-way with CX, on the return (Shekou-HKG-JFK) you can get a Departure Tax Refund at the designated desk (HK$120) as you did not technically "enter" Hong Kong.
Look for 'SkyPier' upon your arrival at HKIA. |

* The procedure is here: http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/p...rture-tax.html * If a passenger arrives (enters Hong Kong) and departs the same day, he/she will still be entitled to a refund if tax has been prepaid with the tickets. There is a counter in the departure hall check-in area to handle that. |
