ISM needs a much more stand-out uniform

on my HKG-TPE flight I asked the FA wearing a nice purple-black dress and thought it was ISM, so I asked her if I can put the birthday cake in the fridge. She told me to ask the ISM "over there", and she is wearing Red that looks like any other FA.

Guess it's too late now but on the next redesign CX should really think about having a really stand-out uniform for the ISM

The ISM never wears red.

She might be pointing in a general direction only. Red is for BC or FP.

The ISM wears black.

It would be nice to have some consistency between the male tie colours and the female colours though.

The new uniforms will......the bc male tie has red stripes....fp tie has red/blue stripes.....sp tie has some gold stripe to reflect new female sp uniform....can't remember the ISM tie color.

Yes, the FP is in-charge for your "cabin" or section in non-airline lingual. :D

BTW, did you manage to put the cake in the fridge? I got denied last time due to policy on food hygiene. They ended up offering me some dry ice instead.

She may have been telling you to contact the purser in charge of the particular cabin, which for Y would have been a red uniformed flight purser. Alternatively if you were in J the flight purser is responsible for the food service so the senior purser may simply have been suggesting you talk to her since your query was food related.

OP was not in Y. He received a birthday upgrade to J.

Well, there you go, the latter explanation then.

Yep, they put it in the fridge for me no questions asked.

I think it works like this (someone please correct if wrong):

Red top on red skirt: BC
Red top on dark skirt: FP
Dark (bluish) top on dark skirt: SP
Black, different looking uniform: ISM

A cabin manager generally will be an FP or SP.

Close - you only got part of the BC uniform wrong:

White top on red skirt: BC
Red top on dark skirt: FP

Note that BC and FP both have red jackets.
