Update: B-KPS is currently enroute as CX888 HKG-YVR-JFK, this is its first time doing CX888. it has already done the CX830/CX831 4 times. It will be interesting to see what its pattern is for JFK flights, until the official May schedule comes into place at the end of April.

B-KPS has also flown to these Shorthaul destinations:TPE 3 times, MNL 2 times, SGN 1 time, and KIX 1 time. Seems if you fly to TPE or MNL you have the highest chance of encountering the new business, which is expected as these are the closest destinations to HKG making it possible for long haul aircraft to do quick trips in between flights.

B-LAK the A330 and only other aircraft with new business continues to operate just CX101/CX100 between HKG and SYD.

My YVR-HKG and HKG-YVR flights for June 24 / July 2 now show the new seat map (seats missing in row 15).
What are the best seats? I grabbed 11A for the outbound and could only get 11D on the return in the minicabin... should I opt for row 16 window instead on the return for more privacy?

Unfortunately most people have yet to travel on the new Business Class layout, however from what comments I have heard, If you are travelling alone, there will be more privacy by the window. It would be my personal suggestion to take a window seat, however I have yet to travel on the new product. The middle seats are designed for couples/people travelling together, so if alone the single windows im assuming, will be more preferable. There has been a trip report on a JFK-HKG 77W with the new seats, so looking at pics you will see the detailed layout.

Note that with the way JFK rotations are set up, one plane will never do both CX888/CX889 in one trip. CX888 arrives JFK at 7am and turns as CX841 leaving JFK at 10am. Likewise, CX840 arrives JFK at 8pm and turns as CX889 leaving JFK at 10pm.

Yes you are indeed correct, it did CX888 coming back as CX841.

I have been on flights where I'm on CX 841, arrive at gate 3 and departs as CX 840. CX 840 becomes 889 then after arrival, it becomes CX 830 and the process goes all over again.

CX883 LAX-HKG July

"My Reservations" on AA is now showing my booking (award ticket) in Business (it was First) and the equipment changed from 77A to 773 (no F). If this is the case it is a major disappointment as I was looking forward to the CX F trip (and using the miles to get it!). On the CX site I can find both the 77A and 773 listed and Seat Guru also shows the 773 on that route.

I've read here that the 773 is the regional configuration and it does not fly out of LAX - has that changed or can I hope for the 77A (and F) on this flight?

added: further research indicates that the equipment is in fact the 77A. I'll call AA tomorrow and find out why "My Reservations" now shows "Business" and not "First" which is what it has been showing up until now...

Yes the 773 Regional aircraft only fly's shorthaul within Asia. LAX is exclusively served by 77A aircraft all which have First Class. However on the CX website there is no distinction between 773 and 77A a reason that AA may think First is no longer available?

I called AA today and they confirmed F. But could not explain why the description in "My Reservations" changed. Oh well...

In the AA.COM Glitches, etc. Thread are observations, including mine, of reservations showing as "Business Z" and "Economy U".

Thanks to everyone for all the info. We are flying family of four JFK-YVR-JFK in January and from seat map looks like we will have the new product. I am going to go for the mini cabin question is do we get two middles (11DG and 12DG) or one row? In the old mini cabin I'd have gone with one "half" cabin (11AD, 12AD) but from what I can see the middle seats now look more amenable to companions? Given all the flights will be at night in darkness being near window is not important

How about a pair of windows on one side plus a pair of centre seats? e.g. 11ADG + 12A. I've found that worked well for me in the past.

Row 21 also has only 1 window - not a huge deal but worth noting..

the first mini-cabin looks great.

Thanks for the heads-up about Row 21. I have to change my seat.

Just checked into CX 888 YVR - JFK tomorrow (Apr 30) and is it showing a 77D. Very excited to be seeing and touching the new J product, but I am even more excited for the my first ever CX F experience! :D
