Will CX ever offer lifetime status?

Similar to what CO offered in 2008, will they ever offer lifetime Silver for reaching 1 million miles? I know no one really has any information, but just your opinion.

MPO did have lifetime status before CX joined OW.

Yes, although I don't see a causal relationship between joining OW and withdrawing the lifetime membership since AA and QF both still have them.

As the OP says, we don't know, but of course we all wish for it. Lifetime Gold at 2M Club miles would be nice too.

The problem with lifetime is, as many of you probably are doing yourself, that once you attained that status you are more motivated to fly another alliance and earn their high status and use your lifetime status for more leisure travel rather than biz travels.

Maybe of my colleagues who are lifetime AA or CO are flying another airline so they have more options and are multiple high status carriers.

Sort of true, but for those of us who are retired after running up a million miles or so all we do is leisure travel, and it would be nice to have some recognition for the money we sent in the direction of CX during our working lives.

Exactly my point, those who have spent 10 years as GO or even DM and have at least a million lifetime miles should get some recognition, as many other carriers do. Otherwise, once they retire, they become a lowly GR again?

Good point. Maybe a 20 year life time status? After you're flying MPC and REMAIN IN THE SAME STATUS for 20 years you will get lifetime? Say for the 20 years you have renewed as GO year after year, after 20 you get lifetime.

The crude world of Capitalism: once you're expendable, you're expendable... ;)

Lifetime etc

CX discontinued Lifetime in 2002 and Invitation sometime after that
