What does it mean when i select my seat and it says On Request?

I know seating is never Guaranteed but when does the seat finally show up as taken on the seat map? I'm flying F/J (next segment) and 180 days window just opened up, I'm trying to select a seat 1A on 77A. Is it keept open in case someone with staus wants it? I have no OW status

I am not sure about the On Request, but every time I request a seat (F/J) on CX's website within 180 days of the flight, I will get it, and the seat map would then show the seat as taken. It is reserved for you and not opened for anyone else even with status.

It says ive selected a priority seat reserved for people with disabilites. wierd how 4 of 6 seats in F on 77A are designated this. Hopefully Seat map will show this seat taken in a few days or so

You will probably get the seat. It happened to me a few times on the 77A and I always got the seat I wanted.

There is always a slight chance someone shows up and needs your seat. You most likely will get the seat you want though. AFAIK, CX's F doesn't always get full although with only 6 seats (CX is not a fan of status upgrade), and the chance of having the rest of the 3 priority seats all filled up is quite small IMHO.

So are you flying out of east coast or west coast this time?

I found another thread and i guess it causes problems if you pick your seat right at 180 days. it now shows confirmed.

Yes, exactly! If it is confirmed now, good for you. If it is still on request, call CX.
