Interesting observation by the OP as I as just wondering the same thing a couple of days ago - I noticed that there seem to be no more welcome by the purser or senior crew (or any crew member for that matter) on my recent flights as a OWE (this was in economy).
And like some others, while I am not with Marco Polo, my top tier membership was almost exclusively through flying CX. |
I would consider it a downgrade of service to AA elites flying CX coach if CX discontinues the practice of providing a bottle of water and serving them meals first.

I think CX is making cuts on unnecessary cabin announcement intrusions. They have cut away the exercise video that they used to waste our times with.
Taking 16 CX flights in 10 days and hearing continuos crap from jackie chan to donate spare change then four minutes of stretches was more than enough. I was more than happy to see they had gone on a recent flight. Also having MPC members queue in the J/F line on a full 747 is a gripe . |

Don't count on getting meals first. I am only asked about meal choice ahead of others once every 4-5 flights. (Anyway, I don't often eat on the plane, so that does not really affect me..)

Yes, you are lucky. Please don't feel bad if the FAs do not ask next time. Not even a DM often gets served first.

Also I noticed they stop the standard announcements in Mandarin in my last two long-haul flights (however, during flight when they ask people to sit down and buckle up, some Mandarin still happens, LOL). So maybe this cutting short of welcoming OW people is just part of the paradigm. Seriously, in the past I feel like the first 45 minutes of the flight it's non-stop talking and talking and talking, and I for one am glad they made a conscious effort to leave us alone with needless babble.

I do wish CX would do more to look after the DM members, I have seen so many times USA ow members demanding" DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM " and they get the treatment because the Asian culture is to avoid conflict
