Club Miles Question
I am currently an MPC Silver with membership year ending April 30, 2010. I have already requalified a few months ago for the 30,000 miles renewal (for May 2010-April 2011), i just checked my account online and found that they have reset my club miles to zero, i will be travelling this weekend on CX (April 18), does this mean the miles i will earn this time will be for my next qualification year? (May 2011-April 2012)

You will earn miles towards your current membership year, not the one a year away. When you log on your account, you should see your membership year. If it was reset in April, it should now say XX Apr 2010-30 Apr 2011.

In my experience, my miles is reset to zero at some point of the last month of membership year. For example, in your case, some point in April.
Flight miles after the reset are counted as the next membership year accumulation. So, in this case, practical accumulation period is a few weeks longer than 12 months. |
its really bad that ur club miles get set back to 0 at the end of 1 year, maybe they shld let u keep the club miles till u reach diamond and then set it back to 0

I think in my experience if the miles are reset to zero it means CX has reset you early. Check the month/year - month/year count, has that been reset as well?
I personally believe this is seen as a "benefit" at first, but it's a CX trick. If you have a pattern of travel, and CX keep resetting you early, it could really mess up your plan to renewal the memberships especially if you have multiple FFP memberships. |
In my case, early reset is my advantage. There is no decrese of membership year. My membership years start at exactly same months past 5 or more years with early resets.
I qualified my next Diamond status before the end(e.g. 30th) of the 12th month. Then, at mid of the 12th month(e.g. 15th) of membership year, CX resets my accumulation. So I have 12 months and a few weeks for accumulating 120,000 miles to qualify another DM. So some amout of miles over 120,000 miles(flights between 15th and 30th of 12th month) can be used for the next year qualification. If CX resets my accumulation at the end of the 12th month, those flights(e.g. 15th to 30th) can not be used for the next year qualification. |
